With the ESL programme complete in season 2001-2002, it was good to find a game elsewhere and that was at London Road, Rayleigh, home of Rayleigh Town FC.  It was the title decider for the Bass Brewers Essex Intermediate League Senior Division between Cup winners Rayleigh Town and Takeley on 18th May.

Rayleigh Town knew that they needed a win to take the title and stop visitors Takeley winning the championship for the first time since 1988 so it whetted the appetite of a good three figure crowd on the day.

The surprise on the day when criticism of going to games without a Programme did not always sound out of place was the sale of not one but three different programmes. The best of the three, without doubt, was the Mark Kettlety 20 pager and that is what I filled in, the Takeley team being Micky Ellis, Paul Yeoman, Grant Wedlock, Trevor Gunn, Martin Sedgewick, Daniel Wardle, Paul Munn, James Amott, John Tann, Mark Saggers and Robert Munn (Captain).  It was 1-0 to Takeley at half time and they added one more to take the title 2-0.  This edition had the complete Takeley league record since 1978 and the complete record of every club since the league’s inception in 1966, also every Essex league table, Cup results and general information – brilliant!

What I summise to be the club Programme had a yellow cover and 12 pages and sufficient information to cover the game with league tables and results etc.  I have no idea who published the third programme which did not even have the teams printed but would appear to have been written just in case there was nothing. That would not be the case and we were all well catered for on a victorious afternoon for Takeley.
